Everyone else seems to know ... is this something you made (painted or whatever)? Very nice. I have done very little oriental poetry. Some Haiku. My daughter-in-law is Japanese, and I did several for her at Christmas, put them in a frame with some painted stuff ....

But then, hasn't everybody done some Haiku? Not everybody does it well.

Hi Andrew
It shut me out for a short period yesterday , then took long loading times, so I think it was blogger.com problems.

This is the combination of two photographs, one layered on the other with graphic effects. I've painted in my lifetime, but not very well. Google 'haiga' and you'll see places where there are a lot of examples. I'm active on a haiku/haiga board, tho my first love is free verse. I enjoy this, too. I'm not very traditional, but had a series of some done with vintage photos and another series with me in the image both published in Simply Haiku.

My first love is free verse, too, although I do think doing specific forms is a really good exercise. Like push ups. (I can't do push ups tho')....

One of the nicest things about haiku is that writing them forces you to observe more closely, to create imagery and sensation the reader can identify with and stay in the moment. It's helped me tremendously in my free verse.
(I can't do pushups either:-)
