Michelle Buchanan's Plan

Please read the opening post in her new blog and consider her request. It's an excellent way to honour the men and women who've been killed in Iraq.

Go to Operation Poem.

Click to enlage and get some idea of the numbers of U.S. service men and women killed in different states, in Iraq, to date, from the Palm Beach Post.

Very impressive map. Can I borrow a copy of this, if I can figure out how to do it?

Sure! I'd thought I posted the link to that site map, but it was to the other site instead. Darn. I checked my bookmarks and didn't save it, either. Can't remember my exact search terms and a quick search just now didn't find it. If you want to save this, just click to enlarge, then hit 'save as' and you have it.

Aha..found it. Happened to notice I got the link through our local newspaper.

Here it is:

I'm glad. Michelle says she's already getting a great response. I also emailed about 20 poets I know through various boards and contacts and see that one of the super good haiga artists, Jerry Dreesen, has one up now on the site. Michelle says send the poems and she'll match a fitting name and photo. That way, she makes sure everyone has a poem unless people had someone die there and want to write specifically for that person.
