Can somebody tell me why this is referred to as a 'chick flick'??

Celine Dion sings the theme song from The Titanic, interspersed with clips from the movie. I love the song and the movie. Okay, it's romantic, but....??? I need help from my male readers here.

Well Pris. I must direct Richie here as ''Titanic'' is his favourite soundtrack ever and he adores the film...and he's male!

I really couldn't consider it an all out 'chick flik' as there are many parts that have nothing to do with romance. Guys get in a moody when it comes to love scenes and especially scenes that are tear jerkers.

The 'I got popcorn in my eye' excuse just doesn't cut it.

It is by far one of my favorite movies and I simply adore the soundtrack. It isn't a film i'd watch with a bunch of guys though, only with my girl or on my own.

I personaly never really cared for the song so much, as popular as it was and even still is. The soundtrack is magnif though.

I just like the whole idea of taking something that DID happen and adding a story line to it, regardless that it is fiction. The footage of the real Titanic was also something else.

Bottom line, guys just don't like mushy stuff, or at least they don't say;)

Gloria Steinmen recently wrote about what she calls "prick flicks" in answer to the chick flick stereotype. Very interesting. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/gloria-steinem/a-modest-proposal_b_55772.html

chick flicks are movies that elicit extreme crybaby emotions. heh heh.

crybaby?? tsk tsk. So...does that mean that any movie that creates a lot of tears is a chick flick? In Sleepless in Seattle, the two guys talk about the Dirty Dozen that way lol.
