Brightman and Banderas do Phantom of the Opera

This is a tiny excerpt from a dvd special I just rented. A presentation in England of Andrew Lloyd Webber's greatest's songs. A wonderful DVD. Everything from music from Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Cats, to Phantom.

She's really something, isn't she? I was honestly surprised they chose Banderas for the part here rather than a stronger singer. He also sang three more songs in the special, I believe. They were in the Evita set. I think they chose him for his charisma and acceptable voice.

Much more gifted male singers sang in the rest of the dvd.

The only other 'nonprofessional' was Glenn Close, whom I'd heard had a classically trained voice and she was very good.

Hi Pris..

Phantom came to the Fox in Atlanta and I took my daughter because she is so in love with the story. We did not see Sarah, howevr, but I bought Ana the CD of music from the production that Sarah was actually performing. We enjoyed the Phantom that we did see, but I have always loved Sarah. I think I saw her long ago in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar, but I could be wrong.

I wish I'd seen it onstage. I've only heard the music and seen the movie production, which is quite different from the real thing.
