I Am A Mirror

From a photo taken in Boston when I was 31 years old.

CLICK TO ENLARGE. This shows the original photo with the two sides of the face mirrored on each side. Quite a different look, eh?

Thanks, Arlene. I made it by cropping off half the pic, rotating it and adding that back to my unrotated half...so, you're seeing the same side of my face on both sides now....hmmm I think Joni Mitchell wrote a song about this technique :-)

Wonderful!

I was just going to ask if your photo was in reality of one half of your face. I just read you comment and now know that it is.

Very striking! I really like this.

P.S. - I've been a Joni Mitchell fan since 1969!

Yep, you guessed it. And have you heard Joni Mitchell's later version of Both Sides Now, featured in Love Actually? It's very mellow and good.

Thanks, Michael
YOu should try this in the darkroom when you don't have a clue if you're lined up till you stick it into the developer ;-) I lucked out and did a few nice ones. Lost almost all of my black and white work in one of my many moves after that time, including the negatives. Still regret that.

hope you feel better...

Hi Polona,
I keep getting mixed up. I'll post the collage I did of the original, with combines made on both sides.

pris, thank you for posting these.
that's what i had in mind - interesting how the seemingly symetrical halves make two completely different images.

Hi Polona
I'll have to get a head on shot of myself now sometime. Maybe after I get a decent haircut lol and try it again.

Amazing what happens when you replicate each half of the face, as here; very expertly done, P. I like the lady on the left - the 'nice' Pris that I know: the one on the right is the 'demonic' Pris - the one who keeps putting her face in the scanner in the name of art; I hope I don't meet her in a dark ally one night, that's all ...
