One of my favorite George Carlin lines:

"Did you ever pour glue on a bird? ... Of course not! You don't have to!"

That one was years ago when he was on the Tonight Show one night, back when Johnny Carson was hosting it.

More recently, in one of his shows on HBO, he was talking about his mom, and about growing up with his brother. He said when he and his brother were kids they were always misplacing things, and when they would ask their mom where something was ("Ma, I can't find my jacket." "Ma, where's my baseball mitt?") she would always say, "Well, it didn't get up and walk away." He said that was her favorite expression, she was always saying it to him and his brother--

"Then one day we couldn't find the cat."
